Welcome to my blog

Okay, I am so not a “techie” but I thought I would give this blog thing a try. I hope I can do this without looking too much like a fool! Today is November 1, 2006 which means it is the day after Halloween. . . . did you hear that big sigh of relief? When you are a mother of a 6 year old and a 3 year old, the Halloween season officially begins the middle of August with the formal announcement of what they (the child) will be this Halloween. It is then the mothers’ (me) responsibility to rush to the fabric store the next day and purchase all the many fabrics and trims it will take to construct the chosen costume. Meanwhile, as you have slaved away for over a month fulfilling your child’s’ dreams the dirty laundry can now stand on its own, cold cereal becomes a mealtime staple and a temporary cot has been set up in the sewing room.

Why do we mothers do it? Who knows! How ridiculous are we to become so consumed by something that lasts one day. I guess you could attribute it to the thrill of the challenge. What can I say, some like competitive sports, others like to hunt – we, the mothers of young children like to think we’re hot stuff by creating the best pink fairy costume ever made!
